EVENING STAR. IS THIS EIGHT 1 Brother! co' <*oow, let's consider, Do we live our lives arifht? Fe the standard of our reasoning The simple question? Is this right? When God designed the world for man, Cacli Ur.ng was glorious in His sight, But now vice reigns, and with it sorrow, Man the author? Is this right: Some th*re are who? having power, Act like tyrants with their might: Crushing hearts of those who serve ;!)cm, Careless, hefrile?*->l * this rlrht? Others, chosen to he stewards Of Goal's treasures, gra?p them tight, Make them serve a selfish purpose. And wrong the poor?p-"ay, '* thi? right: ?o?ae of weak and erring nature. Make them.*' v? a hideous plight; Abuse their freedom, make themselves Degraded, brutish? Is this right? 8cme vicious, wastina p ecion* hour*, In hrawlin*, wrangling, day and night; To God's first laws no reverence paying ; iinplu* brawlers? Is this right .5 Some seem to think that they wore bom Only to swear to cu'ss and fight,. And make a fri?httul hell of earth . Oh, erring brother? Is this right? Others who bnve talents given, Meant to b?; te man a light, Easely pandering, strive to hide It, shameless panderers? Is this right ? Let us then, henceforth determine To reform these evils quite, Let each his part do in the matter, We soon shall see tint all is right! in Old Adag?, suited to Pre lent Time. What is lighter than a feather? Dost, my friend, in dryer weather. And what is lighter than the dust, I pray? The wind that watts it far away. A fid what is lighter than the wind ? The lightness of a woman's mind. To Beautiful Young Ladies.?The Cincinnati Public Ledger thus discourses to the beautiful young ladies of his town: "Why," says'he, "is it that many of our most beautiful young ladies of this city, while walking in the street are in the habit of holding up their dresses with "both hands, as though they were going to catch something in their laps?a bad practice really, and should not be car ried to such an extent as it is, or cant they tind no other use for their hands while walking. Get a fan, or a small parcel of something, but let the dress alone, unless in crossing the street, or where there is mud, but we presume it is done for show; however, we'll ask our better half when we go home." His better half will tell him that he Las nothing to do with other ladies' dresses. Iron Walls.?We have been shown a miniature specimen of an iron wall, designed a3 a substitute for brick, in the const ruction of buildings?the inven tion of Jason L. Burdick, a practical builder, and an inventor of some repu tation. The pieces of iron employed are ingeniously shaped, so as to secure light ness with great strength, apparently, and the wall thus constructed may be easily taken in pieces and re erected, with com paratively little labor or expense. The most striking peculiarity is, that the plate3 of iron used in forming the walls are connected withcutbolts?N. Y. Jmr. Com. C^Tu the suit of Kicrstcd Agt. Y. Eve. Post. ?-FaTAL Quarrel.?A lew days since, two boys, aged respectively 15 and 17 years, quarrelled about a sled at Car thage, N. Y., when the elder boy, named Bohall, kicked the other boy in the neck, killing him on the spot.
