T.lijah G Welles, a minister of the Bap tist denomination, about 70 years of age, who has far some time past had his lodgings at t<o. 11 Avery street, was two or three days since found by the family in the house to be sick in his room, and i.? an entirely ^^titute condition. Some clTort was mHr to place him in more comfortable quarters, and where necessa ry attention could be given; but the de fined relief not being obtained, Capt. Eaton, of the police, was informed of the case, and pro.ured a permit to place the unior.unate patient under the care of Dr. Moriarty, at the Deer Itland Hospital, whither he was yesterday removed. Last night he was very sick, and there is much doubt if he can recover. Mr. Welles has occasionally officiated in sev eral of the Baptist and Orthodox church es cf the city and vicinity. It is proba ble he has not ii^ade known his necdiul condition of late.?Baton Traveller.
